The first time I ever heard of Charlie Kirk ...
... was when someone called me to tell me I should take precautions.
People on the left view the September 10th killing of Charlie Kirk as an act of evil.
People on the right view it as an opportunity.
For the first time in our nation's history, or at least, our memory, key figures in the national government, including the president and the vice president, are calling for the suppression of the majority of Americans because they are associated with a major particular political party, and they are calling for the investigation and possible arrest of leaders of various political movements and organizations, using this killing as an excuse.
This particular president stands by most measures at or near the lowest point in approval or popularity of any president in recent memory, and the the vast majority of people disagree with his handling of most of the very issues that he ran on to get elected. We need to trust that that same degree of disdain from the public will apply to his current calls to arms against us.
Increasingly, I see people responding to the latest news from the regime with the suggestion that there will be no more fair elections, implying that the autocratic government of Trump is already in place and can't be stopped. Please note that at the moment the large majority of attempts this regime has made to enact its authoritarian agenda have been slowed, thwarted significantly, or simply stopped so far. Those who say these things are complying in advance, and need to be cheered up so they stop doing that. So find someone like that and try to cheer them up. The end in not near, though clearly it is out there lurking.
The Speaker of the House called this moment a turning point. Indeed, it may well be, but not the one he was thinking it might be.

Around the time of the first "No Kings" march, I read somewhere that the resistance (violent or no) of at least 3.5% of the population can stop or thwart a dictatorship.
